Where to Apply Fragrance?

Where and how you apply fragrance has a lot to do with how long the fragrance lasts on you. How you smell also influences how you are received by others.

Applying fragrance:

Even if you choose the best fragrance of all and don't apply it in the right way at the right places, the result will not be as desired. It is very crucial to know how and where to apply your fragrance to make the most of the sweet scent.

Fragrance smells best when applied to the warmer parts of your body. The pulse points like the wrist, behind the ear, base of the throat and the crook of the arm and knee are the warmest parts of our body. The blood vessels and arteries are the closest to the skin at these points and they emit a lot of heat and work like pumps for fragrance. Furthermore, spraying at the ankles makes the fragrance blossom.

Making it last long:

As fragrance is not formulated to last all day, it should be reapplied from time to time; nearly once every three to four hours. It is also formulated only to be applied on the skin. So when applied to fabric, it not only might stain and ruin your clothes but also doesn't get properly enhanced as the fabric changes the nature and smell of the fragrance.

Fragrance lasts longer on damp skin and blooms when worn on moisturized skin. The warmth of our body facilitates the fragrance to bring out its scent. However, dry skin lacks the essential lubricant to contain fragrance; moreover, it can even alter the scent.

Spraying fragrance on the hair can also emit a good amount of perfume. However, fragrance should be sprayed on freshly-cleaned hair as unwashed hair contains oil and dirt that could distort the scent.

Dabbing a little bit on the palms of your hand allows you to enjoy the fragrance for yourself. A very effective way to make fragrance last on the skin last for a long time is to layer it.

Layering:

Applying several products of the same scent is termed as layering. Layering, especially in winter or in dry weather, helps a dry skin to retain fragrance. Layering fragrance is not a very difficult procedure and depends mainly on the fragrance you choose to wear for the day.

Layering begins with your bath. The scented soap or body wash, bath oil and hair rinse or shampoo should have the same type of smell like; lavender, lemon, peach etc. After the fragrance bath, in case your skin type needs additional moisture, apply body lotion, moisturizer or cream and powder it later to set the fragrance. Next, spray and dab perfume at various pulse points, keeping in mind the legs and feet too. For better results, after applying fragrance to the skin, allow it to dry before dressing.

Remember that fragrance rises and will not last long if ladies just dab some behind your ears and men apply after shave. This way, the scent will rise and soon be gone. Layering and applying fragrance all over is the best way to keep your self smelling good continuously!
